if it is a large cut, you may need to go to the hospital. if that is not possible or not necessary use a cloth or paper towel of tissue or something and apply constant preassure to the wound to stop the bleeding. if the rag becomes soaked with blood swap it out. repeat this until the bleeding stops. now this is all for a medium-large cut mind you. for a small cut just dab it with antiseptic and then hold a tissue on it. a bandage can be used depending on how much hair the person has.

Scalp injury or laceration tend to bleed more than you'd expect so you should put pressure to control the bleeding.

Why should first aid treatment be given to someone who has had an accident?

First aid should be given in an effort to prevent further injury. If the injury from the accident is relatively small, first aid may work as a final fix. For a larger injury, basic first aid can help to forestall further injuries. For these larger injuries, the injured party should visit a hospital to ensure they get the most complete treatment for their injury, but first aid prior to the hospital visit can help to prevent further injury.
