My top notch favorite dish has got to be my home made meal. This is made by boiling some sweetcorn and plain rice (not together), and cooking some Herby sossages. When all cooked, put the sweetcorn & rice in a bowl together and mix up. then cut the sossages into manageable pieces, and add them to the rice and corn, and mix it up once more. Then put some orgainic grated cheddar on top of it all and place in microwave for 20 seconds (for the cheese to melt). Whallah!! You've got your protein, carbohydrates & vitamins all in one dish. Plus it tastes gorgeous too!
That is a very broad questions, and one which you could receive many differing answers to.
My suggestion is to keep your foods to as much natural foods rather than processed foods. Vegetables and meats of all kinds are fine, and even full fat milk, butter and cheeses are also healthy, although many might disagree.
What I have learned through personal experience and a fair bit of research is that to one single element which we now consume far too much of, and which is not healthy for us is "sugar".
There is a very strong medical need for us to reduce the amount of sugar we consume, but unfortunately, it is in just about all processed foods available, and of worse still, we are addicted to it, so cutting down on sugar can be tough, but very much worth the effort.
A healthy meal should be balanced. It should have carbohydrate, so starchy foods like pasta, bread, cereal, even fruit has carbohydrate, but have something starchy as well! It should have protein, so fish and cheese and pulses, like lentils and nuts and beans. It should have dairy, so milk and yoghurt etc. It should have fruit and veg as obviously, and also a small bit of fat/sugar is not a bad idea!
Use fat-free or low-fat milk, yogurt, and cheese.
i would distinguish whether it was healthy or not based on what is in it or what it's made with
