A heamocytometer is an instrument that is used to count blood cells . A liquid is dispersed on the slide and it is placed under a binocular microscope under 400x magnification. Under the microscope a number of boxes appear that contain the cells .

There is a ceratin way of counting the cells using the boxes and calculations can be done to determine the number of cells present in that quantity of substance.
