A cocaine addict is somebody who cannot do without cocaine. They have to have it regularly otherwise they will become lethargic and suicidally depressed.

However, there are no physical withdrawal symptoms, because cocaine is not physically addictive. Rather, it is chemically addictive, meaning, your brain needs it to stay happy. Your body doesn't need it to keep from getting sick, which is what a physical withdrawal is.

How can you help some one taking cocaine?

There is a 12 step program for cocaine addicts called Cocaine Anonymous. There are also numerous rehab centers. These are options that can be suggested to the addict, but they'll obviously only work if the addict wants help. In the meantime, there is Co-Anon for the families of cocaine addicts. They may be better able to provide guidance. Here's a link to their site: www.co-anon.orgBest of luck!
