Boys do not menstruate as they do not have a uterus or the necessary reproductive organs to experience a menstrual cycle. Menstruation is a biological process that occurs in individuals with a uterus to shed the uterine lining if pregnancy does not occur. If a person who identifies as a boy or man experiences bleeding from the genital area, it may be due to a different medical issue that should be evaluated by a healthcare professional.

While women are the only ones to menstruate, or have periods, boys go through emotional and physical changes during puberty as well. Boys, however, do not have an actual period each month.
