You need to communicate with your target audience in a way they understand. You also need to understand what physical or intellectual limitations the target audience may have.

For example, you would not expect a child to understand a lengthy report on kidney function tests, so you would "water" that down. For an elderly person, hearing loss is natural for higher pitches so you would be sure to face your client and speak slowly if you are a woman with a high pitched voice.

There are many other examples, obviously they can not all be posted here. Communication is one of the most important skill in medicine and skilled care be sure to cultivate your skills.

Communication is VITAL in a healthcare and social care setting. The patient and the healthcare professional need to understand each other clearly in order for the patient to receive the best possible care. Provding care to a patient is next to impossible if the patient's needs cannot be clearly stated. Communication eases anxiety of the patient, eliminates more possibilities for mistakes, and lets each party know what is expected of them.

Communication models state that communication is not complete without feedback. Health and Social Care cannot possibly have the desired impact, unless the directives are fully comprehended. Communication training to insure feedback will make health and social services more effective.
