They effect the body by causing rapid fire of the synapses

(This is why "Flashbacks" of hallucinogens can occur, the rapid firing has caused a "mental rut" so to say, where the synapses can fire off rythm and return to the rapid fire state they were in while on that hallucinogenic compound).

All drugs effects' are also caused by the molecules of the substance plugging into chemical receptors in the brain.
