novocaine is a local anesthetic, it is related to cocaine . It numbs a part of a body that needs a painful minor surgery done to it. As you could of guessed since it's related to cocaine, you can become toxic very easily on it. but for surgical procedures it's normally used in small amounts that still pack a punch.
