"Oculus sinister" is Latin for left eye, while "plano" refers to something flat or without refractive power. So, "oculus sinister plano" could refer to an eye that is flat or without refractive power in the left eye.
You can get plano contact lenses (meaning that the refractive power is 0), but you still need to be fit with contact lenses to make sure that the base curve (the curvature of the contact lens) is appropriate for your eye. If you go out and buy contact lenses without a prescription (as in not plano, but just buying them in general) you run the risk of developing sight-threatening conditions, like a corneal ulcer.
There is not really a formula from what I have gotten, but I did get this approximate conversion from a medical source. Unfortunatly it doesn't go very high (my prescription is worse than what this goes up to too.) Hope it gives a little more info though. 20/10 Plano (zero) 20/15 Plano 20/20 Plano to -0.25 20/30 -0.50 20/40 -0.75 20/50 -1.00 to -1.25 20/100 -1.75 to -2.00 20/200 -2.00 to -2.50
When you have had your eyes examined/tested, ask for a copy of the prescription.
The SPH in eye prescription means sphere or spherical. It indicates the measure of diopters, the lens power that is prescribed for farsightedness or nearsightedness.
Probably not. See a doctor and get a prescription.
You will need to visit an eye doctor and get a prescription for contact lenses.
Don't you mean TRANSITION?
