Is the husband being overly critical? That might be a reason.
If the husband can have a non-judgemental conversation with the wife, instead of trying to discuss the behavior, discuss why she won't talk to him and how she feels about the husband's perception of her behavior. If he can get to why she's shutting him out, he may be able to have a reasonable discussion of his view of her behavior.
