A lump doesn't point to one specific diagnosis. This description could be anything. It could be a muscle knot, it could be a growth of tissue, it could be something else. Get it looked at by a good doctor. Thomas A. Bea Try www.webmd.com and see if the symptom-tracker by body-area works from there... gyoderpa...

If the lump moves easily, it is most likely a benign fatty-tissue structure called a lipoma. These are common in the lumbar region myofascial tissues, and often are not treated.

If the lump is painful and/or does not move easily, I would get a medical evaluation to rule out other conditions. See link below for further information on lipomas.

, my name is Gloria, I have a 13 yr old twin grandson, that has a hump across his back, we are always telling him to stand tall. and it doesn't seem to do any good. I have made an appt with his Dr. I hope she can tell me what to do. I had family over this weekend, and they asked if he was ashamed of his height, I said no, he likes that he is taller than his twin, although the grandson I'm talking about is only 5ft6 Please help.
