When you metabolize calories your body has to burn water to regulate its temperature, or else you would burn from fever. You burn so much calories in early pregnancy because the embryo is having such a huge growth spurt. Its so normal to be so thirsty. Dont count how much you're drinking, just drink what you want when you want. Make sure you're taking a prenatal, and maybe have you iron checked. In some cases extreme thirst, or the craving for ice is a sign of low iron. That's also common in pregnancy.
