LEUKORRHEA- a whitish vaginal discharge. It is a natural defense mechanism the vagina uses to maintain its chemical balance, as well as to preserve the flexibility of the vaginal tissue. It may also result from inflammation or congestion of the vaginal mucosa. In cases where it is yellowish or gives off a foul odor, a doctor should be consulted since it could be a sign of several disease processes, including an STD.

Everyone is different, as you get more accustomed to your menstrual cycles you will learn to recognise changes to your discharge as hormones change.
Typically 2-3 weeks before menstruation you get fertile cervical mucus.
This mucus normally plugs the cervical opening to protect from infection, but leading up to ovulation it softens so it flows down in the vaginal canal allowing sperm swim up through the cervical opening, it also protects sperm within the vagina for up to a week.
How to recognise fertile cervical mucus;
Typically 2 weeks before menstruation discharge thickens.
After ovulation the cervical mucus dries-up, discharge then becomes thicker and whiter like lotion or thick cream, white and heavier than normal. Directly before menstruation you will likely see pink or brown discharge as the blood starts to flow and mixes with your normal discharge - you may also see a little red discharge or red tissue.
