Active participation comes in many forms and means different thing things to different people. It could be being a member of a club or group or something simple like going shopping. Active participation allows people to feel an active part of their life and their community rather than a passive spectator. It gives people the chance to feel achievement in their lives whether it be passing a test or knitting a jumper. A sense of achievement allows people to build their confidence and self esteem which has a positive effect on their well being.
