A partial penectomy is when they surgically remove part of the penis. An urethroplasty is the correction/formation of the urethra.

A urethroplasty would be done with a penectomy since the urethra is within the penis and would want to reconstruct it so the could pee out of what is left of his penis.

This procedure is mainly done for penile cancer. It is sad because this form of cancer is basically preventable with either a circumcision or good hygiene.

What happens after penectomy?

Ok, you'll find a lot of articles on the internet about this, however the vast majority repeat themselves and very few actually hit upon the points and realities that most people facing this procedure, really want to know about, so I'll make this as simple as possible:Partial PenectomyIf you have had a Partial Penectomy, then you will have a shorter penis than usual, how short depends upon:1) The reason for the procedure.2) Your original length.3) How much has had to be amputated. The penis that is left after surgery will have no head, which will obviously take some getting use to. After a Partial Penectomy you might still be able to have intercourse. It is said that intercourse is possible even with only a 3 inch stump left (when erect) but with less than 3 inches intercourse is going to become virtually impossible as there won't be enough penis length to push past a vaginas opening, however there maybe enough for oral stimulation.Online you will find a lot of very 'optimistic outcome viewpoints' about Partial Penectomy from many hospitals, because most of those hospitals want you to use them for your procedure, but the reality is that it's going to be a very tough time. Being realistic is more important that being optimistic, to prepare yourself mentally for the very worst, in which case any better outcome is great! On a plus point, after a Partial Penectomy you should also have enough shaft left to be able to pee standing up and still be able to "aim".Total PenectomyYou'd think it's similar to Partial Penectomy, however Total Penectomy is a completely different ball game. The majority of information that you find online about Total Penectomy will be VERY optimistic about the results of the surgery; only concentrating purely on the positives. For example you will read lines like: "after total penectomy a lot of patience find that they can still do this and that", but, what none of them actually go into detail about, is the obvious results of Total Penectomy. After Total Penectomy you're looking at no more masturbation, no more oral sex, no more penetrative intercourse, more than likely no more ejaculating at all would be an obvious result. However the worst part is that, with your testicles, seminal vessels and prostate all intact, they'll be working away giving you your usual libido producing their testosterone, sperm and seminal fluid, but without the penis you won't be able to ejaculate any of it.You'll still be getting sexually aroused, and frustratingly, will be desperate to get sexual relief, even though you cannot. To almost 'add insult to injury' after Total Penectomy surgery, a lot of people also experience 'phantom erections' (a condition linked to phantom limb syndrome) so when sexually aroused, you'll feel like you have an erection, which you cannot touch or do anything with, as it isn't really there.Any form of Penectomy obviously is not an ideal situation, and is why most men, especially who have undergone Total Penectomy, do need counselling or some kind of psychological help afterwards to help them come to terms with these huge life changes.Because of the rarity of the procedure, there is limited resources out there to find support groups, but gradually there is more awareness coming out. There is also new hope now with new technology coming out to regrow body parts, and luckily for men facing Partial or Total Penectomy in the future, one of the main focuses at the moment for growing body parts is on penises.... So if I were you, I would be finding a list to get myself first in line. That is pretty much it.
