CFCs (chlorofluorocarbons) are odorless, colorless gases at room temperature and cannot be detected by smell. The odor of a substance depends on its chemical properties, but since CFCs are inert and have low reactivity, they do not produce a distinct smell.
As I think now mostly all companies are making CFC free ACs but most promptly the companies like Daikin & BlueStar are making CFC free ones..
