Its not the temper per say. In what environment and the way the person was taught to deal with reality, let down, emotions and feelings. If they were not taught compassion or confidence they will also not know how to deal. Its not inherited it is a learned response. ANSWER In a way. I've inherited my bad temper from my dad.

You could use the word "substantially" instead. Say you saw someone after a lot of years, you could say they had changed markedly. Or if someone did something good or bad that affected someone else a lot you would say that it had affected them markedly.
