Lexopro is a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor, which is a family of drug used to treat depressive conditions. As well as treating standard clinical depression is also used for treating anxiety and obsession issues. While the drug does prevent reuptake of serotonin, it is not certain according to current research as to whether the drug will actually treat these disorders. As a result of this its use and the use of such drugs in general is changing, so it may be prescribed for other conditions by a medical practitioner at their discretion.
