I don't know the answer, but my 22 year old daughter has NEVER run a fever. She also has a "low normal" of about 96.5. Her doctors are understanding of a "low normal" but they just don't seem to believe that she doesn't get fevers. One time she was almost hospitalized for a very sever UTI and she had her typical temperature. The doctor at the hospital said it is rare, but that they do see it. That being said, if you find an answer please let me know. It's been driving me nuts trying to explain for years,

Not everyone gets a fever. Don't worry though! You can still be sick even though you may not get a fever. I'm 13, and i get very high fevers. You'd be lucky not to get a high fever. Good luck Hun! A fever will eventually show up, it just depends on how sick you are!

Well, when you have a fever your body temperature is higher than normal. Here's an weird but explaining example. If you were a chunk of Colby Jack cheese, where would you be? The refrigerator of course! So your natural temperature would average around 37 degrees Fahrenheit , keeping you fresh and healthy. OK , now if you took the chunk of cheese out of the refrigerator and put it out on the counter and left it there , it would grow mold. Mold represents you having a sickness , condition , or disease. Why did the cheese grow mold ? It's temperature was higher than normal. Now the cheese will be mushy and gross. Now if all that seems like a bunch of random words here is yet another answer. If you have a fever you don't feel well because you are most likely getting sick. Possible conditions are : Cold, virus, strep throat, h1n1, and many other conditions , Diseases , and sicknesses. The most affective way to keep from getting sick is to wash your hands! Wash your hands with a pump of soap and warm water for at least 20 seconds. Wash your hands before eating or preparing food and after touching or playing with anything that could be a party zone for germs. Examples : Computer, keyboard, games, gaming systems, toys, and especially people and friends! If you you wash your hands, cough into your sleeve, and wash your hands after sneezing you are less likely to sicknesses!

I always worry now that not getting a fever when sick is a problem.

Throughout most of my life I always ran high, averaging 99 to 100 normal. When I got sick it maybe lasted

1 or 2 days and then it was done. Now I average 96 to 97 but I never get a fever at all when

I'm sick. I'm always sick 4 to 7 days at a time and I get sick much more often.

I'm worried something not working right and my body is struggling to fight off whatever

has me sick. Is my immune system functioning properly?

I am the same way and even at 45 this is still the case. My temperature normally runs about 96.5 too. I was hospitalized for 6 days with severe pneumonia and they had a hard time with diagnosis. I believe my "fever" is when I get around 98 or 99. Medically... they don't define it as a fever. I have explained this until I am blue in the face. Can not get medical professionals to listen.
