I have only found so far (I am not a doctor)...

  • Nail becomes detached from its bed at base and side, creating a space under nail that accumulates dirt. Air under nail may cause grey-white colour but can vary from yellow to brown.
  • In psoriasis can see yellowish-brown margin between margin between normal nail (pink) and detached parts (white).
  • If Pseudomonas aeruginosa grows underneath nail, then green colour.
  • When nail bed separation begins in middle of nail then appearance resembles an 'oil spot' or 'salmon-patch'.
  • Causes of onycholysis include:
    • Idiopathic or inherited
    • Systemic disease, e.g. thyrotoxicosis
    • Skin disease, e.g. psoriasis
    • Local causes, e.g. trauma or chemicals

Here is the cure! I had Onycholysis too from acrylics. I had to wear polish to cover up the ugly detached nail. Wow, if i hit them on anything the pain was wild. They were hanging on by the barest of nail at the cuticle. 6 of my 10 fingers were effected. This lasted 8 years! I prayed for a cure and finally God blessed me with the answer.

I went to 4 doctors, used prescription preps, and searched the internet for a cure...nothing. After 8 years, yes, 8 years I found a doctor that gave me the advice i never got on from anyone.

HERE IT IS. What you do is cut the affected detached nail right down to the point where it is connected and KEEP IT CLIPPED, DAILY IF YOU HAVE TO. As soon as you see some white, clip it back. IN 3 MONTHS YOU WILL HAVE ATTACHED, NORMAL NAILS!

The trick is to keep moisture from pooling under the detached nail plate. As long as moisture can collect, they will not reattach. Clip them back and they will grow in.

THANK YOU LORD FOR SHOWING ME THIS. AMEN.
