Do you mean Hypokalemia? If so, it is a lower than normal amount of potassium in the blood. A large drop of potassium can result in abnormal heart rhythms, breakdown of muscle fibers, constipation, fatigue, muscle weakness, and paralysis. (which can include lungs)

Hypokalamia can be caused by certain antibiotics, diuretics, diarrhea, laxatives, Liddle Syndrome, Cushing Syndrome, eating disorders such as bulimia eating large amounts of licorice or using products such as herbal teas and chewing tobaccos that contain licorice, excessive sweating, excessive vomiting, kidney problems, and lack of potassium in every day diet.

After a blood test is done to check levels of potassium, creatinine, etc. Usually taking potassium supplements corrects the problem. Individuals with a more severe case may need to get potassium through a vein.

If left untreated paralysis, irregular heartbeat and kidney disease may result.
