There are six steps in diagnosing and treating a patient. Something that too many doctors do not do. By just looking at someone and guessing what they may have causes a misdiagnosis and an improper use of antibiotics. Antibiotics do not cure viruses like cold viruses. The short way to see these is by doing a culture and sensitivity. "What the heck is this?" "What will treat this?"
1.Examine the patient
2. Obtain specimen(s)
3. Examine specimen directly (almost right way for a good guess)
4. Culture the specimen (in the lab)
5. Determine sensitivity (what will affect it)
6. Treat patient
