Usually vomiting is not harmful. However if in doubt, see you doctor as it could be a sign of poisoning.

The main effect of poisoning on your health is the danger of dehydration. Therefore if you are vomiting remember to drink plenty of water.

The very young and elderly are the most at risk of dehydration. Below are some signs of dehydration:

1. Severe thirst

2. Dry lips and mouth

3. No tears when crying

4. A sunken fontanelle

5. Sunken eyes

6. Unconsciousness in severe cases.

If you show any of these signs combined with gastroenteritis, seek medical advice as soon as possible.
