I have an association with my store clerk. We are respectful toward one another and we take care of work with all due efficiency. End of relationship.

I share community with my fellow members at church. We take care of one another, share aches and pains, and celebrating joys. The relationship goes where ever it needs to go in the sharing of lives.

The difference is fairly small, but I would call it one of extent and intent.
