Dandelion: If picked young, the leaves are great in salad. The root, dried, ground and roasted makes a so-so coffee substitute. Curly Dock: A very common weed. Peel the leaf stems, and they are juicy and slightly tangy eating. Purslane: Another common ground-hugging weed is delicious and juicy in salads. Note: Don't touch any of the above if the area has been treated with herbicide recently, of course.
