Honesty is always the best policy. We all tell little white lies such as:
A girlfriend is trying on a dress and she looks heavy in it, but it's not too bad. Imploring with her eyes she says, "Do I look too fat in this?" If you think she can get away with this style of dress you could either say, "Well, let's try on a few more, I don't really like the color on you that much" or you can lie and tell her she looks fine.
These lies are to save hurt to a good friend when the subject of the matter isn't all that important, but, really lying about loving someone or even ditching them does hurt, so honesty is always the best policy and it helps you grow as a trustworthy and reliable human being.
