Some people experience joint or muscle pain when they are coming down. Some people throw up during the onset. Overdose rates are low. You would have to eat a whole lot of them. The main thing is to make absolutely sure you get the right ones. The wrong ones are called death caps for a reason. Make sure you are physically and mentally healthy if you are going to eat them because such a drastic altering of the mind can cause some people to experience a "bad trip"; in which a state of panic and fear sets in, with thoughts ranging from general confusion to worrying that you are going to die. Most people alleviate this fear by reminding themselves that they are on drugs and that the overdose rate is low, (and that they got the right ones, it's very important to get the right ones). A few other things you can do to avoid a bad trip are: 1) Surround yourself with things that make you comfortable 2) Take a shower first, everything feels better when you are clean. 3) Eat a light meal. 4) Have a sitter, someone who will stay sober that is familiar with the experience. 5) Keep an open mind and have fun with it!

Long term effects of reasonable magic mushroom use are pretty much nil, unless you have a particularly nasty trip. Maybe a bit of HPPD, which means you sometimes get trip like visuals when not tripping, but this varies person to person.

Frequent use of magic mushrooms (lets call it more than bimonthly) often leads to paranoia and brain chemistry imbalances. Not always leads to but often. These effects usually aren't permanent.
