Each country has its own agency for determining whether a medical facility is in compliance with safety laws.

In the US, that agency is the US Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) or an equivalent agency within the governments of about half the states.

However, in the US most hospitals will focus more on the requirements of the Joint Commission (the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations ) a non-governmental, not-for-profit organization that accredits hospitals. While the Joint Commission looks at a wide variety of criteria related to patient care, comfort and safety, they also look at employee safety.
