I would think it wasn't very good or at least not very close. When the prophet Samuel came to anoint the future king which would be David, his father Jesse didn't even consider him and only brought in the older 7 sons. That seems to show a lack of confidence in David. David loved the Lord with all of his heart like a true father. The Lord loves his sons with love that their earthly fathers may not have for them.
