Disadvantages of medical model of health?

The main disadvantage of the medical model of health is that it ignores the soulspirit, so if a sinner keeps on sinning, the medical model of health will ignore his soulspirit, not realising it's affecting his or her physical health, especially after a long time of being wrong on purpose, often hidden. the medical model is about proffessional people labeling children with a disability the disadvantages are the child is seen as 'ill' and what treatment is needed to get rid of the illness, they do not focus on the needs of the person

What is the social model of health care?

The socio-medical model of health care (if this is what you are referring to) is a model of healthcare that not only focuses on the individual, but the environment as well. For example: if a man is at work and falls down the stairs because there is no handrail, the bio-medical model of healthcare(which is the opposite of the socio-medical model) will just focus on his leg and getting him better as soon as possible so he can get back to work wheras the socio-medical model will not only look at his leg but why he fell in the first place. This means that they will note that the environmental factor (the handrail) wasnt their, so they will get in touch with where the man works and tell them to put a handrail on else they would be breaching health and safety laws, and in the future this may not happen again whereas the bio-medical model wouldn't focus on the environental factor and this could happen again which in the long run, could cost more money on hospital rates and sick pay. hope this helps. I had to answer this question in my unit

Which one is better biomedical model of health or social model of health?

my veiw is that its the socio-medical model of health but other poele may not agree........... all medical students are know being taught in view of practicing doctors in a social model. this involves working in partnership with a patient rather than in a paternalistic way, this is beneficial to the patient as it improves communication, discussions on treatment options to reach a mutual consensus, this improves compliances and leaves the patient more involves and happier with their care.
