Well, people have the power to effect one another. If one person were to go to the store, and buy the last cookie, the next person in line may have also wanted that cookie, and was then sad because they did not get it, but instead got a donut that in the morning at that restaurant someone made, and so on and so forth. So point being, people effect others. The choices we make can effect other people. If someone decided that they were sick of seeing homeless people on the street, that person has the power to make a change whether that change be big or small and go out and help those people.

The fundamental principle of the Constitution that embodies the idea that power lies with the people is known as popular sovereignty. This principle asserts that the authority of the government is derived from the consent of the governed, meaning that the people have the ultimate power to shape their government and its policies through voting and civic participation. Popular sovereignty is foundational to the democratic system, ensuring that the government reflects the will of the citizens.
Because that's what a democracy is. A country ran by the people.
They can mainitain power by telling lies, and and terrorising. Forcing people to do stuff, and using the law.
The chief source of political power in India is the people. India is a Democratic Republic and this means that the ultimate power lies with the people.
