Tit for tat? I don't know about selfish, but it is the first tool that many people use to persuade someone to do things their way. (e.g. If you do this, then I'll do that: it will fix him/her.) However, it is really the long way around, since things are not always the way they seem and your "tit" may not be the right answer to his "tat." Someone once told me that people always do things hoping for a certain response. Which they are unlikely to get, again, because you can't predict what other people will do and/or what they are thinking. It also may escalate the drama of the situation, instead of taking the wind out of their sails or turning the situation around to your advantage. 50-50 always, NEVER GOING TO HAPPEND! At times you may have to carry 95% of the load. At other times you may not even be able to carry 5%. But its good to know you have someone you can count on to pick-up the slack, and you won't even have to ask! For get tit for tat!
