No it is not okay because a lot of rust can cause harm on your intestinal tract. Although small amount of rust cannot be that harmful we must be careful of the things we use to cook our food. If you have a rusty grill there are a lot of articles and videos online to help you clean rusty grills. Aside from rust there could also be a lot of other harmful chemicals or bacteria on a rusty grill so just make sure to clean it thoroughly before using.
