Yes, it is possible you could feel light headed. I gauged my ears once and I didn't only become light headed, I had a serious migraine. This isn't because of pain, it is just a small form of shock. Your body is like "Woah! Something just went through me" so headaches, dizziness, light headed, vommiting, etc. CAN occurr. It just depends on your body.

Other signs of infection are discoloration around the piercing, swelling, tenderness, and itchiness. If its a new piercing, these symptoms are normal. They become problematic when they last longer than 2 weeks. If you're playing with it or aggravating it while you eat, it might take longer to heal and be angrier longer. If you think its infected, go see your piercer to have them confirm or deny your suspicion. Then, if it is infected, go see a doctor. Hope this helps! :)
