If you are sleeping, you are generally not moving. I am sure that this rule applies whether or not you sleep with your eyes open or closed.

Another answer to this is , although rare there is a condition called Sleep Paralysis, that is your eyes are open and you are semi- conscious, but you can't speak or move. Stanford University has conducted tests on this.

It means that you're normal.

During sleep, particularly the REM (Rapid Eye Movement) stages of sleep, your brain paralyses your limbs and neck, on purpose. This is to prevent you from acting out your dreams and harming yourself (or others).

People who aren't paralysed properly will experience sleepwalking and/or sleeptalking.

Sometimes people could be woken too suddenly for the brain to un-paralyse the individual. During this moment you'll feel helpless and unable to move or speak, most likely causing fear. Your brain will send you back to sleep again, then wake you minutes later when you have been un-paralysed.
