Is it better to try glucosamine and chondroitin before deciding on hip surgery?

It is better to try as many alternatives as you can and have time to do. You may, or may not, find something to help, but at least you have a chance to find something before you do something that cannot be undone. If your surgeon recommended a hip replacement, there really is only a slim chance that anything else may help without, but it's worth a shot.

I talked a pharmacist about taking glucosamine chondroitin with lithium. The pharmacist said that he doesn't recommend it. I would say, if your unsure about taking lithium with glucosamine the best thing to do is ask your doctor. I know that lithium and glucosmine are both salt based products so it maybe to much salt intake. I wouldn't think it would hurt but Iam not Dr. The safest thing is to ask before you take it.
