Cetirizine HCl is available over the counter in some pharmacies, so it can't be THAT harmful to an average person. Dosage is probably your main problem, especially due to the age of the youngster. However, WikiAnswer is by no means a good substitute for a doctor, so it may be wise to get a professionals opinion on the matter!
no never it gives your dog diareah
Cetirizine is a newer 'Antihistaminic drug. It contains two forms one is Levo-Cetirizine and another is Dextro-Cetirizine. Out of which Dextro-Cetirizine is almost ineffective. In recent years, so many 'newer' Antihistaminic drugs are launched and then withdrawn from market. So not to use this drug in infant. From one month to one year of age baby is called as infant. At the end of first month weight of the baby is between 3 to 4 kg. It is going to be tripled at the age of one year. I do not know how can you ask the dose in this much large range of weight. You will be advised to use the old preparations like Clorpheniramine male-ate or diphenhydramine or Promethazine. (Promethazine is long acting.) Above six months you may give 2.5 ml of Promethazine syrup at bed time if baby is irritable due to fever and dose may be added by 1.25 ml hourly twice. Same dose is right for itching also. But always remember that baby cannot talk and you may sedate the baby with some serious illness at hand and give the medicine after your Doctor has examined the baby unless no Doctor is available, specially at night, at your own risk. This will happen very rarely but then you will spend rest of the life in regret.
You need to take the baby to a doctor.
