The terms you use are relative. As in there's no clear answer because perspective varies from person to person.

I think the general consensus of people would agree that it's a soft drug though. It's not physically addictive, the side effects are minor, and it's widely used.

To say it's a hard drug would be to imply that there are alot of hard drug users in the United States ;)

Marijuana is classed as a schedule-one (I) Narcotic by the Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs, a federal agency- BNDD sometimes pronounced ( Bend) as an acronym. this classification means it has no recognized medicinal application, despite the somewhat inane talk of ( medical marijuana). Pot is a schedule-One Narcotic in Federal Jargon-no legitimate medical application. LSD, as hard as they can get- also fits in this Banned category. Draw your own conclusions. Plenty Of Trouble.

A soft drug is an active drug that is not addictive and not damaging to the health, while a hard drug is a drug that is either addictive, damaging to the health or both.
