Technically, marijuana would be considered a hallucinogen, since you tend to hallucinate. But from my experience, I've found it to be a relaxant. After it slows up my heartrate like a stimulant would, it as well slows everything down to an lower rate, and it's clear that everything in my body stops working at normal pace. Also, it makes me very calm.
THC has side effects of all 3 categories, stimulant, depressant, and hallucinogen, however it is only categorized in the hallucinogen section. When the THC chemical is absorbed, it increases blood flow (stimulant), induces a transcending state (depressant) and causes minor visual anomalies (hallucinogen). You won't be seeing tigers or colors, just a slight difference in perception. =)
