The human body temp ranges up to 37.5 degrees centigrade. higher than this and the body is raising the temperature to try to fight of "something" that should not be there, usually an infection (virus or bacteria) paracetamol is the best thing to give. raised temperatures are the bodies natural defense and is a good thing BUT very high temperatures for a length of time can cause fits or seizures and these are dangerous especially for young children. hot children should be cooled down. if paracetamol and cool sponging down does not drop the core or central body temperature to 37.5 degrees c or less then one should speak to a nurse or doctor immediately. fits or seizures look like uncontrolled rapid shaking and loss of consciousness followed by floppy states and should be avoided especially in the young who are more vulnerable to damage from raised uncontrolled body temperatures.

It is a bit high, you should shoot for a 98.6 temperature. This is the average temperature for a student. Play it safe and keep him/her home.
