I fell didn't trip I just fell and I hit my head on the stairs. I didn't lose consciousness but I didn't remember what happened and I couldn't see at all after it happened. Whats the cause of this?

A hard knock can cause a short memory lapse. Shock can also make a person forget details about an event but someone can recollect after a while. A concussion or a temporary brain trauma is responsible for the memory lapses.
