It is recommended that you do a total cleanse according to the seasons--4 times a year. Then you can do maintenance cleanses as needed--little tune ups or liver cleanses
Check with the nutritionist at your local health food store...they can direct you to products and advise you on cleansing routines. Before embarking on a cleanse, if you have any major health issues, check with your Doc for modifications--it will save yourself some embarrassing issues later.

on a cleanse as we speak..the better late from the Winter Solstice than never cleanse
A total body cleanse removes waste, toxins, and parasites from the body and is safe for most people to do once per year. However, if you are taking medications or have a weakened immune system you should NOT do a total body cleanse without first speaking to your doctor.
I would not recommend a body cleansing diet, or a colon cleanse, or anything of that sort. Your body should be able to take care and cleanse itself without any external help. Doing so could actually cause more harm than being helpful. Twice but it is only recommended to get your goats pregnant once a year so that they can maintain a good body condition
4 times a year.
There are many types of cleanse diets out there. How good are they? Well, some are actually pretty good from what I understand, others, however are not so good. A colon cleanse is recommended at least once a year and it can get rid of so much toxic waste inside our colon and intestines. The benefits will be very obvious, no constipation, no irritation, and a happier life.
