It's been awhile since I looked at this stuff... however here are some quick facts to remember: A full adult sleep cycle is approximately 6 hours long, anything over 6.5 is not normally medically required... -->Adults sleeping less them 6 hours usually show signs of memory problems and obesity -->People sleeping more 7-8 hours, are usually just as healthy as the 6 hours per day, if not healthier; However, for some reason they die earlier! This is an undeniable fact. What is unknown is why -->People sleeping more them 8 hours, will not only die sooner but experience a plethra of side effects Despite what North Americans have been trained to think, Naps are EXTREMELY HEALTHY. Between 8-12 hours after waking from your primary sleep block, it is a good idea to take a 15-30 minute nap. -->Anything over 30 minutes will begin to disturb your primary sleep block and begins to get unhealthy. -->Anything under 15 minutes should still be taken!!! If you only have 2 or 3 minutes then learn meditation then close your eyes and do it! Napping will improve your mood, allow you to think better and clearer, and improve your overall health.

In order to develop and function properly, children need more sleep per day, up to 18 hours for newborn babies, with a decreasing rate as a child ages. A newborn baby spends almost 9 hours a day in REM sleep. By the age of five or so, only slightly over two hours is spent in REM.
For male having age of 25, it belongs in the adult category which needs 7-8 hours per day.

Depends on the length of your "sleep cycles", but generally 7-9 hours.
10-11 hours every night are the optimum hours of sleep an eight-year-old should get.
if you mean how many hours you should sleep in a year it would be 3,650 hours of sleep for a regular year not a leap year
