Until they have totally disintegrated. I use them to keep cats from using the front garden as a bathroom, they hate the smell.

With exposure to the elements outdoors they will get smaller and smaller and be gone, smell too, within 3-4 weeks. Indoors they will last for years, and the smell will linger even longer.
