The pancreas has two main functions. The first is the production of various digestive enzymes as well as deoxyribonucluease (the "D" in DNA)as well as several others. The second function is the production of the hormones insulin and glucagon, which together manage blood sugar. Without the pancreas, we would not be able to digest food properly, nor would we be able to properly manage the amount of sugar in our blood.
