A peer relationship is when you're around somebody of the same status as you (e.g. you might be in the same grade in school or the same age or work at the same store). It doesn't necessarily mean that you're friends with them or that you even like them.

That also means that it can affect you both positively and negatively.

Positively: They might be a friend or someone you relate to. They might convince you to finish, let's say, a school project that you decided not to do.

Negatively: They might try to convince you to use drugs or do something harmful. Being around the negative peers might have a very bad influence on your behavior.
