This disease is found in tropical areas of the world where a microscopic worm can be transmitted by mosquitoes. The tiny worms then multiply in the animal's, or unfortunate human's, lower appendages, more specifically in the groin area where they block lymphatic flow and cause the swelling that is characteristic of elephantiasis.
