Strangely enough, injuries to the mouth heal faster than injuries to external skin. You may want to take care to keep your mouth cleaner than you usually do to avoid infection. Brush your teeth more often etc. but you do not need a bandage. If there is severe bleeding, then you would need to go to the doctor for stitches or whatever it takes to stop the bleeding, but otherwise there is nothing for them to do. A little bleeding is ok and good to keep flushing the wound. Whether you swallow or spit your own blood is up to you, but I think spitting is nasty. Numbing your tongue may cause you to accidentally bite it again, but you can deal with the pain by eating licorice or mint. Suck on ice. Rinse with salt water or mouthwash. Eat some fresh garlic, basil, and oregano. If you can't find it fresh, chew on the dry herbs. Masticate it and keep it in your mouth for as long as you can and then swallow it. These are strong natural antibiotics.
