Red eyes are caused by enlarged, dilated blood vessels, leading to the appearance of redness on the surface of the eye. This may result from extremely dry air, sun exposure, dust, foreign body, an allergic reaction, infection, trauma, or other conditions.

you can clear up your red eyes if it is due to-

1) dryness- by using eye lubricants or artificial tears( tears natural, systane, hypotears, refresh plus/ refresh tears eye drops- available over the counter)

2) sun exposure- apply clod compressor to closed eyes for 5-10 min.

3) dust, foreign body ,trauma- use eye drops which contains vasoconstrictor alone or with a steroid like dexamethasone ( be cautious when used for too long, they can create "rebound redness."and mostly available with prescription)

4) allergic reactions - eye drops containing antihistamines or a combination with vasoconstrictor

5) infection - eye drops containing anti-infective agents l
