It is possible for a trained medical doctor overseas to become a Fellow of the American College of Physician if he or she fulfills the following criteria.

Number one, he has to be a registered medical practitioner with a postgraduate qualification from his own country.

Number two. The postgraduate qualification has to be adjudged equivalent to the Diploma awarded by the American Board of Internal Medicine

Number three. The physician has to be active in Internal Medicine either as a Professor, Researcher or activist

Number four. You must demonstrate scholarly activities either in form of publication in peer review journal or evidence of continue medical education or re certification

Number five. You must demonstrate good track record and able to abide by the ethics of the profession

Number six. As an international applicant, you must have been practising medicine for over 10 to 20 years

Number seven. You must be able to pay the required dues
